Get Weird! It’s the Best Way to De-Stress

Stress, it’s not something we like to think about. In fact, most entrepreneurs will try to avoid thinking about stress whatever they can for the simple fact that it could bring them down. But these days, there are so many different approaches to dealing with stress, that we can be almost bombarded by the same things, day in and day out, which is why sometimes, you’ve got to be strange in your thinking!

With this in mind, what are the leftfield ways to tackle stress?

Imagine Yourself as a Piece of Equipment

Wouldn’t it be amazing to turn off your emotions? Those people who are constantly worried about what the next meeting will bring, and how it will impact the staff can feel a lot of visceral stress, but sometimes, it benefits us to think about how we operate if we were a pivotal piece of equipment. It’s a very strange way to think about things, but look at how we would be able to function if we were to switch off emotion for a bit. The right piece of equipment doesn’t think, it just does. The strength of something like the alloy 20 plate, that was designed for maximum resistance to acid attacks, or the focus and efficiency of a CRM, that processes information without thought for the human impacts- if we had the same approach, what could we achieve? It’s not easy to think of yourself as someone bereft of emotions, but if you find that your emotions cloud your judgment, you could use self-hypnosis. You can work yourself into a state of calm by repeating affirmations. While hypnosis is certainly a tool that can make you achieve a lot, it’s a wonderful way to remove some of these niggling doubts. Sometimes, we’ve just got to think like a machine!

Laugh Yourself Silly!

If you spend time in an office where you scoff at people having a funny conversation, perhaps you should join them? Laughter is one of the best medicines, and if you can allow yourself the opportunity to laugh, you will keep anxiety at day. Laughing stimulates the heart, releases endorphins, increases your oxygen intake, which are all great things. If you are constantly serious, you’re not doing yourself any favors. Take those opportunities to write a funny limerick, watch a video, or just think about something funny that happened years ago, because it’s going to calm you down!

Take Your Shoes Off

You might not like the idea of taking your shoes off, but removing the soles between your feet and the floor could help you relax. In Eastern healthcare, foot manipulation is a very commonly held practice and is a very wonderful way to help you feel more at home. In fact, going for a walk on bare feet can help you reconnect to the earth, which can help you rejuvenate your electric charge. Sounds strange? Try it! It will reduce inflammation, help you sleep, and regulate the stress hormone cortisol.

Stress is good but in small doses. If you want to reinvigorate your business, it’s time to get weird!
