Is it time to move to a new house? The need for a new house can creep up on you all of a sudden. Just like one minute you’re holding a tiny baby and the next minute you’re debating with a five year old with a whole lot of sass.

Your current house may have seemed like it had plenty of growing room when you first moved in but it could be time for the next step. If you’re wondering if it’s time to move on, here are a few clear signs.

Open Plan Doesn’t Work Anymore

Many homes for young families are now open plan. It makes sense when you have young children. You can keep an eye on mischievous toddlers while loading the washing machine and they know exactly where you are when they need you. It’s also easy to have family fun, even when someone else is in a different room.

However, as children grow older, they need more space and more privacy. Perhaps you’re finding that open plan isn’t working anymore because your kids want their own space. One wants to watch something on tv while the other wants to practice a musical instrument and that combination doesn’t work in the same room.

Everything Is Too Small

As your family grows, so does everything else. Maybe you need space for single beds instead of toddler beds. Maybe you need a bigger dining table or sofa.

Is your space feeling claustrophobic because there are more family members than there used to be? Make sure you consider how much space you need when looking for new homes for sale in your area.

Kids Rooms

It starts to become obvious when your kids have outgrown their own space. There are only so many storage solutions you can implement before there are no solutions left. Even when you minimize and get rid of things, you won’t be able to deny that your kid needs a bigger room, especially as they go into their teens.

Another Bathroom

Is sharing a bathroom becoming a nightmare? Perhaps there’s a queue at the door now that everyone needs to leave the house at the same time. Perhaps someone is walking in to use the toilet as someone else is using the shower. If you’re sick of the arguments over who gets to use the bathroom first, it’s time for a new house.

No More Storage

As your family grows, you’ll find that you need more cupboard space. After all, there are more people using plates and cutlery, more clothing to store, more food in the pantry, and much more. If you haven’t got enough space to store everything you need to use regularly, it’s a definite sign you’ve outgrown this home.

No amount of organizing can make the space in your home any bigger so there will come a time where you look around and see it’s time to take the next step. If you’ve found this article helpful, take a look at the others.
